This is my second plate. I wanted to try something different with this one, so I made five porcelain petals, and then used the black stain to add detail. I didn't really plan on doing the detail, but I wanted to make it a little more complicated, because before my projects were very simple. I just started painting on black glaze, without thinking too much about it. I like how it came out, though.
This is my first plate. Aside from a little bit of choppy glaze in a few spots, I really liked the way it came out. I used a basic white, to make the black stick out more. I definitely think it is an improvement from last semesters plates, which is what I'm working towards. The hardest skill was probably keeping the edges even, and also flaring the rim a bit. The foot ring wasn't easy on a plate, but it turned out well. This is my tall project. It is a huge improvement on last years tall project, but I would very much like to keep working on building up so that I can improve. I like the different kinds of clay that were incorporated like red clay, and porcelian. It was hard to attach the coils around it, but overall, it adds a nice bit of natural color. The black line was supposed to make it look bolder, but it really didn't end up doing much. I definitly want to improve my footing, as this one was footed while it was to wet, resulting in a smashed bottom.
Bowl two is similar to bowl one, but the flare isn't so dramatic on the top. The dark green glaze looks like glass on the bottom, which I really like. Overall it came out well, and I didn't really use any new skills. Shape was an art element I used to give a little bit of curves. This is my first of many bowls. The dark blue glaze didn't turn out how I expected, but it still expresses the cold/cool mood I was going for. I had to try and flare out the top to give it more shape, but i had to try a few times before I finally got it. This is another bowl. I used a flare on the top to give it shape. I also tried omething new with the glaze, and let the white drip into the shadow green. I think it looks really cool on the inside, and it turned out really well. Also the white on the outside didn't drip, which made it really pretty, and muh like porcelian. I like the combination of the two colors.
