This is my second semester in ceramics, and at first, I only expected it to last one semester. I struggled to build up projects, and get them to where I wanted them to be. However, the stubborn factor in me, pushed me to keep going forward, and at this point, I have not only vastly improved, but also come to love ceramics. I look forward to it everyday. As my projects began to advance, I realized my glazing should to. So i glazed and expierimented with different colors, and shades, to come out with combinations I liked.
TO accomplish my goal, I used an idea, to portray a picture. For example, if I wanted a river, than I made an abstract version of fish swimming upstream. I also painted detail, and added animals, trees, mountains, setting, you name it, to a previously boring project. My glaze was meant to make the project fun, and exciting. I loved to use my different ideas to make a project, and I paid close attention to the shape, so that I could see what design would work best.
I chose this theme because I was tired of having boring projects. I wanted to have something that I could show off, or that would be fun. It was also a way to still practice simple skills on the wheel that I was lacking. This theme interested me because I saw what other people could do with glaze, and I wanted to try it. Glazing has endless possibiblities, and you really never know how its going to come out. It defentitly has that element of surprise in it.
Ceramics has proved to be an exciting, fun course that I would gladly take again and again. I love the creativity it allows, and it's one of the few classes that I know for sure I can go into and be myself, expressing who I am in art. I would recommend it for anyone who's willing to work, but also enjoy it. Ceramics is one of those things that puts you in a better mood, and brightens your day.

This semester, I have improved a lot from last year. One of my main goals was to actually get better, because I wasn't impressed by any of my projects last year. However, I have mastered centering, pulling up, and pin tooling the top of my projects. These skills have helped my projects look way better than before. I still struggle a bit at footing, so I hope to improve a bit more with that next quarter. Overall, I feel that I have worked hard in class, and given it my best. Not a day passed, where I had nothing to do. My grade was an "A", so I cna't complain about that, but I was slacking a bit on blogging regularly. I also want to do better with that. This quarter has been very succesful, and I can not wait to continue ceramics next quarter, ans semester.
