This is my extra credit pinch pot. It is an elephant. I wanted to try to do a few hand projects before the semster was over. It was glazed dark blue with a thick strip of design on the back. I like the general impression that it gives off, but it is glazed a little splotchy. I had to reinforce the skills of pinching and whomping. Overall, it turned out okay.
This is my extra credit bowl. I made it out of seamix. It is somewhat abstract, woth flowers on it. It has been glazed with black and purple. I used the skills of design and pattern. I also used contrast for the purple and black colors against the white. I like how it came out, although I expected the shape to turn out better.
This is my Multi-wheel project. It is composed of a bowl, and cylinder. It is glazed brown, and has been turned into a grizzley bear. It has little round ears, paws, a tail, and a snout. I dont particularly love the shape, but overall it turned out better than I expected. I used the skill if attaching both on the wheel and off.
This Is my double wall project. I have to say it is probably one of the ugliest projects I've ever made. It is some sort of greenish blue color. It is uneven and off center. I also has a few shapes carved out to show negative space. It also shows the new skill I learned of bringing two walls together to create the project. I really dont like the way it came out however. If I could do it over, I would make it even and work harder to make it look nice.
This is my hand and wheel project. It is a Snowman with a blue hat and red scarf. I made a lidded project on the wheel and then I attached clay to turn it into a snowman. A new skill I had to try was making a lid so that it fit inside my project and looks like a hat. I also used contrast to make the Snowman stick out against the blue and red scarf. I was very happy with how it turned out. It represents a winter feeling and reminds me of Christmas. Next time I would use sea mix to make it white instead.
This is my lidded project. It is medium size. I glazed it with sea creatures. I used the skills of making two openings, for the lid. It turned out a lot different then I expected. I used the art element of design. Overall, i was not impressed by this project. I made the detail to overwhelming. Next time i will focus on a few bigger items instead of all the small ones.
This project is my Frankenpot. I worked with JD and Mitchell to make it. It is created with three pots. My pot is the top piece. It is dark blue, and has a unique structure and shape. One of the skills we had to use, was attaching the pieces together on the wheel. I had never done that before, but it was a lot of fun. We also used the design elements of shape to make the top part cirve slightly. Overall, it was a little more difficult then i expected, but it was also fun to make.
This is my vase. It is light pink on the outside with a safari silhouette. it was difficult to make the small designs. there are two African trees, one elephant, and a giraffe. In the background there is an orange Sun that is supposed to be setting over the Safari. in this project the art element of design was very important. I also had to use contrast with the black and the pink. Overall I love the way it turned out. It is probably one of the best projects I've made this semester.
This is my wheel altered project. It is green with pressd in sides to make it look like it has a flower top. I used the art elements of shape and color to give it a unique look. I also used movement and contrast in the glaze. the outside is dark green with white drips on the inside. it did not come out like I expected. in the future I will make the sides more even and foot it better.
This is my choice project #3. It is a bowl, with three 3D shapes on it. It has a seashell, a sand dollar, and a starfish. I stained and used underglaze. Half of the outside is dark blue. The other half is clear. I wanted to experiment with the inside, so I used dark blue, white, and a little splash of green. Overall, it gives off the ocean look I was going for originally. I had to use the art elements of contrast, and the skill of slipping and scoring. I like how it turned out.
