These are my two plates. It took me a while to make them, because the first ones I made got lost. I used porcelain to make them, which was a new skill because it was the first time I threw with that kind of clay. It was a lot harder to keep the project centered, but I like the overall result of how it comes out. I used the skills of color for the Hippo and Elephant, as well as design to help bring them to life. It was enjoyable to create them. Next time I would make the colors a little more appealing,
This is our Frankenpot. My team member was Kurtis. I did not enjoy making this project because it always looks ugly. I think it is very hard to attach the different pieces. I used the aert elements of form to create the design element of balance. We also used contrast to glaze it so that it looked dark on the inside, but light on the outside. It is not my favorite project.
This is my extra credit soft slab. i used porcelain to make it. It definitely felt different then using regular clay. It was very soft. I painted a beach landscape with watercolors, utilizing the art element of design. I also used shape to make the slab an oval shape. It was something different from what I usually do, but I like working with the watercolors to give the project a purpose. I hope that soon, I can throw with porcelain. I tried once, but it was difficult. I thought this was a good way to incorporate this kind of clay, and also the use of color. I will definitely continue to experiment with this technique,
This is my lidded project. It is very large, and i used watercolor to paint a tree with a tire swing, some mountains, and a lake. This task was very time consuming. I used the new skills of watercolor and i had to use shape to fit the lid. The most difficult part was creating a lid that fit the rest of the project. I also experienced a little bit of difficulty while glazing it because the clear glaze was too thin. It ended up coming out dull, and it was difficult to make the glaze stick to it after that. I will make sure the glaze is thicker next time before I dip a project.
This is my wheel altered project. It is dark blue on the inside, and light blue and green on the outside. I pressed in the sides to make it wheel altered and give it a flower top shape. It was difficult to make it look even. But overall it came out well. I used cintrast to make the da rk and light stick out. I also used shape for the top.
This is my choice project. It is a vase, with a lion and African background. I used watercolors for the first time on this project. I really like how they turned out. i see a lot of potential for them in future projects. I also used a pencil to sketch the animal at first. This made it more accurate with the glaze. Overall, i was very pleased with the outcome.
This is my tall project. it is about 7 inches tall. I glazed it dark shadow green. It has a long body and neck that goes in slightly. It is shaped much like a vase. It was a little difficult for me to pull up on this project because it was so narrow in the middle. I had to use the skills of shape.
This is my hand and wheel. It is a basic bowl, with clay added around the edges to make a polar bear. I got the idea to do this for my hand and wheel when I saw something similar on Pintrest. It is dark blue to create contrast and depth. The art elements of shape and depth were used. I used the skills of slipping and scoring. Overall, it gives off a fun idea.
This is my large bowl. It is white with a pattern of black swirls all around it. Thwy start in the middle, and slowly poyr over the sides. I had to use the art skills of design, and the art elements of pattern, movement, and contrast. It was gard and time consuming to do the swirls. But the bowl was fairly easy to make.
These are my two small bowls. One is really round, and glazed dark brown and black. The other is fairly round and has a clump if trees, and a shadow green inside. They were fairly simple to make, and i like how the shape came out However, I hope to improve by compressing the lip better. The skills i used were shape, and compressing the base, as well as the elements of pattern and design. The black one has a dark bit somewhat woodsy mood, where as the other is a fun, more simple mood.
